Our Family Grew Again!!

Good afternoon, Chics! It was an exciting weekend. Our bonus daughter and her little girl came to visit, Bear arrived, we changed things up with the chickens, and we experienced the tornado shelter. Whew!

I don't know about y'all, but family means everything to me. Saturday morning, I just about wore holes in the floor while I was waiting on my kid to arrive. A little issue with GPS gave me more gray hair but they finally arrived safe and sound. Oh, that hug I got from the sweet little one that nicknamed me Aunt Winter! And my other kid...I always love to see her. Then the fun began trying to get the shy little bundle of joy out of the backseat. Y'all...he is the sweetest little thing!

Introducing our new little pup to the rest of the crew went pretty well. Mostly. We have a 14-year-old chihuahua/rat terrier mix and she is cranky about puppies. But she set Bear straight and, in the process, reminded the other dogs that she may be small but she's mighty and in charge. Our ten-year-old rescue wasn't all that thrilled to meet the bouncing puppy either but eventually he will realize the puppy is here to stay. The "teenagers" (our not quite one year old giant puppies) enthusiastically greeted Bear. They were drooling all over him and have not let him out of their sight, aside from bedtime.

I should probably tell y'all that we now have six dogs. Someone recently commented that my husband and I must really love dogs. I replied that I love dogs and my husband loves me. My oldest son rightly pointed out that my husband loves the dogs but isn't about to admit it.

We spent the short time that my kid and little miss were here just relaxing--until yesterday afternoon. We've been talking about getting rid of some roosters for a while now. We had WAY too many. So yesterday I posted on Facebook that I had eight roosters to sell and within two hours they were gone. But first they had to be caught.

I watched and laughed as my husband, son, and bonus daughter chased roosters all over the chicken yard. Roosters terrify me (an admission that had my bonus daughter howling with laughter) because when I was little a rooster cut my cheek open. Yes, it was my fault because I disobeyed my mom. But I am wary, so I steered clear and enjoyed the show. Those roosters are going to be dinner for some nice lady north of us.

Lots of tears were shed before my bonus daughter and little miss left. Thank God they made it home safely. Hopefully they will be back soon.

Last night we learned that we could fit four people and six dogs in the tornado shelter comfortably. We even had room to add a few more people. We sat in there for about forty-five minutes and lost power for about three hours. Y'all the winds are crazy loud around here on a normal day but last night it was scary. Thankfully, we didn't have any damage and we are all safe.

I'm enjoying the warm weather today and daydreaming about my gardens I'll soon plant. I left you some pictures so you can see sweet Bear and catch a quick glimpse of us in the shelter. See you later, Chics!
